About the Role

We are looking for an experienced (Senior) Software Developer with strong C++ expertise to join a team developing advanced software solutions within the marine communication systems domain.
You will contribute to the development of complex, high-reliability software products and components, working across the software stack and collaborating closely with architecture, testing, DevOps, and other engineering stakeholders.
This role is particularly suited to a developer who combines strong hands-on C++ development experience with a solid understanding of software architecture, design principles, quality standards, and engineering best practices.
ResponsibilitiesFull-Stack C++ Development
Develop and maintain software products and components using C++.
Contribute to full-stack software development across complex technical systems.
Implement robust, maintainable, and high-quality software solutions.
Software Architecture & Design
Design and define technical solution architectures within an established overall software architecture.
Apply software design patterns and engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges.
Contribute to technical decisions regarding implementation and system design.
Software Development & Documentation
Create, document, test, and maintain software in accordance with defined development and quality standards.
Ensure code is maintainable, scalable, and aligned with agreed technical principles.
Produce clear technical documentation where required.
Technical Collaboration
Provide technical clarification and support on implementation-related topics.
Work closely with engineers, architects, testers, DevOps specialists, and other stakeholders.
Communicate complex technical topics clearly to members of the wider development team.
Code Quality & Reviews
Participate in and conduct code reviews.
Help ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to software design principles.
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices and development standards.
Testing & DevOps Collaboration
Provide technical expertise and support to testing and DevOps teams.
Collaborate on debugging, integration, deployment, and quality-related activities.
Support the development of reliable and maintainable software delivery processes.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering, Communications Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
Several years of hands-on professional C++ development experience.
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
Experience developing and maintaining complex software systems.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Strong problem-solving and technical analysis skills.
Very good communication skills in both German and English, written and spoken.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with the Qt Framework, particularly for GUI or application development.
Familiarity with Software Craftsmanship practices and principles.
Experience with practices such as:
Test-Driven Development (TDD)
Clean Code
Pair Programming
Continuous improvement of software quality
Experience working in complex, high-reliability, or security-sensitive technical environments.
Ability to support and collaborate with testing, integration, and DevOps teams.
Working Model
The role is based in Dresden and requires an initial on-site onboarding period of approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on the candidate's background and experience.
Following successful onboarding, remote work of up to 2–3 days per week may be possible. Candidates located within reasonable proximity to Dresden are preferred, as the team values regular in-person collaboration.
